We often lament that Wu Jing simply doesn't get the international exposure we think he justly deserves. That doesn't mean that the man has not been busy on his home turf. Far from it. The man works, hard. He just finished filming with City Under Siege at the end of the summer and he is onto another project, The Fantastic Four Detectives, directed by Gao Qun Shu.
The story of the film is a contemporary Chinese Western action film about a team of four cops traveling miles to track down a pair of criminals. The story was inspired by a real event in Guizhou where a convict led pursuing police deep into the mountains.
Wu Jing stars alongside Duan Yi Hong, Ni Da Hong, and Zhang Li. Wu Jing's character is "Goatherd" Yang Xiao Ming. The others are "Leopard" Yue Lu Xiang, "Tibetan Mastiff" He Jian Dong and "Yak" Han Dong Dong respectively. Standing in their way of these escapees will be Francis Ng and Yu Nan.
Rather than relying too much on stunt doubles and editing, director Gao Qun Shu hopes the actors would do their own stunts as much as possible, and they were sent for training before production began.

"While
we could come up with many impressive stunts performed by doubles, the
audience would be able to spot them. No matter how good the editing is,
the moves wouldn't be coherent. We're after coherency in the action.
And the gunplay wouldn't be like those big Hollywood movies that often
show the bombastic effects of bullets strafing all the place. It must
fit within the current criteria in Mainland, the guns used are what our
cops are using today." elaborates Gao Qun Shu.
The production team expects to open the film on May 1st, 2010.
