We do loves us some Coen Brothers movie making magic. And they have no trouble attracting top list actors to their films and it looks like their interpretation of True Grit will be no exception.
They've already signed on Jeff Bridges to take on the role of Rooster Cogburn, previously played by John Wayne in the 1969 film. Damon will play the role of his partner, La Boeuf, and Brolin will play the killer Tom Chaney. There is no word yet on who will play the 14 year old girl, Mattie Ross, with whom Cogburn and La Boeuf help track down Chaney, who killed her father.
The Coens have written a screenplay which they hope is more faithful to the Charles Portis novel than the 1969 film was. Filming is expected to begin in March 2010 and a release date should be later that year.
