IFC picks up 'Valhalla Rising'

Excellent news for fans of Danish filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn. His latest film, the Viking epic Valhalla Rising. bowed here at TIFF on Friday and a couple days later it's US rights were picked up by IFC Films. Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Entertainment said, "Nicolas Winding Refn knows film like no other director. He elevates genre to the realm of art and has established himself as one of the most audacious filmmakers working in Europe today. VALHALLA RISING is one of the most visceral and exciting films we've seen in a long time. We're absolutely thrilled to be in business with him and reunited with Nimbus Films." IFC Films plans to release VALHALLA RISING in 2010 via its IFC In Theaters program.

Outstanding news. Outside of festival runs I'll be stoked if this hits north american theaters other than NYC and LA.

Well at least it'll be playing in SOME theaters. This was bar-none made for the big screen.
