When it comes to my experiences with JDrama one of the biggest surprises was the absolutely charming, engaging and funny show Nodame Cantabile. The show debuted in Japan in 2006 then there was a TV movie in 2008. And as the evolution of Japanese media goes it is now time for not one but two Nodame Cantabile movies for the silver screen; one in December and the other in 2010.

Based on Tomoko Ninomiya's long-running manga series, the story centers around two complete opposites: piano prodigy Megumi Noda (Juri Ueno), aka "Nodame", and conductor Shinichi Chiaki (Hiroshi Tamaki), aka Chiaki-senpai, as the unlikely pair inspire each other to fulfill their respective dreams in the music world.

Part 1 will be released in Japan on December 19, 2009 with part 2 coming sometime in 2010.

Count me in. I fell in love with Megumi and all her quirks, I never thought I'd see the day when I would like a show centered around orchestrated music and it looks like the original cast will be making appearances along with Naoto Takenaka as the eccentric conductor Franz Strezeman.
