Is there any point to remaking a film famously hailed as the least competent in cinema history? Probably not but that's not stopping multiple crews from working away on remakes of Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space and the first has its teaser available now. The self-awareness of this pretty much spoils the entire enterprise, in my opinion. The entire appeal of Ed Wood was his naive belief that he was making something good, an element that cannot possibly be recaptured in a remake.
Boo.
This is the whole point of remakes, to take a "bad" movie and reenvision it. Ed Wood tried his best with what he had, little budget, untrained actors, etc. If he were alive, he'd be all over this. Actually, I wish he would've had the budget to do what he truly intended.
I'm probably going to be in the minority here... but Zombies and Aliens, why the heck not? Bring it on. What will be interesting is if this will be a shooting of Ed Wood's original script, or if the entire thing is being re-written and re-worked.
