Yesterday cult film maker Shinya Tsukamoto unveiled his Tetsuo The Bulletman - the third installment of his Tetsuo series and the first in the English language - at the San Diego Comic Con and our very own Aaron Soto was there armed with his video camera to not only capture the official conference - which featured the unveiling of poster imagery, stills and footage - but to also score a one on one interview with the man himself. Wanted to like the footage but found the acting and dialogue stilted. Tsukamoto just shouldn't be doing an English film.
was wondering if there was anyway to see the full film clips consecutively and not with the interview footage? it just seems like we're missing alot of what was shown?

Just based on Tokyo Fist, Bullet Ballet and Snake of June, I'd have to agree that he's one of the most gifted filmmakers alive, but with Vital, the Nightmare Detective films, and now this English language picture, it's pretty apparent he's trying to reach out to a larger audience, much to the detriment of his work, I'm afraid.
Haven't seen the Nightmare Detective films so can't critique, but I really like Vital. It seemed the natural progression of an ex-camera freak-out artist to go to a very steady, thoughtful piece. Personally I think Snake of June -> Vital is a development. Just my opinion of course.
Vital and Nightmare Detective weren't what I would call "commercial" movies. In fact, they've brought less money than Tokyo fist, Bullet ballet and Snake of June.
I really don't like the fact that he put an American in the Tetsuo universe, but I've heard that, since his last movies didn't work that much, he had problems finding money to do another movie. So, I guess putting an American and filming in English was a mean to find the cash more easily.
I really enjoyed both Nightmare Detective films though. If that is Tsukamoto "on his way down" then I'm enjoying the ride...
