Back once more today with another WSFF program preview and it is the second program that our lord and master has created for the festival. Creepy will have a little something for everyone: blood, nudity, violence, shotguns, chainsaws, babies, ghosts and a whole lot of scares. It is going to be a good night. Buy your tickets now for Midnight: Creepy happening on June 19th at the ROM here in Toronto. Now, if you'll excuse me I need to go outside and pet a puppy or something just to get these images out of my head. Find my blood soaked thoughts after the break...
The Intruder – Before things start to get a little wicked and crazy it is nice to start off the night with a nice ghost story. A young woman returns home to discover that her mom is not alone. Full of good frights and a cunning ending Mikael Kreuzrigler’s film is the least of your worries.
Out of Control – Thought not completely messed this stop motion animation has been mentioned on the pages of Twitchfilm before and for good reason. Sofia Carrillo’s animation is haunting and beautiful yet unnatural. Think TOOL’s Sober video but for girls! Now, you’ve got the idea. Crazy dolls in crazy dresses with crazy eyes.
Laura Panic – I want girls to like me but not to this extent. Infatuation gone horribly wrong is the key here. That, and migratory birds. Just watch.
Mom – I saw this back in December when Todd was in the midst of planning for this year’s edition. It scared the crap out of me then and it scares the crap out of me now. It’s three minutes long and has only two shots. Just remember to call your mom and tell her how much you love her after you’ve seen this. You’ll thank me for it later.
Breed – Fans of 1970s Italian giallo films are really gonna dig this. The rest of you? Just make it through this and there’s more goodness afterwards. It was written and directed by Antonio Trashorras who wrote Del Torro`s The Devil`s Backbone so he knows a thing or two about horror. Just because you read someone else`s love letter doesn`t mean you`re going to fall in love as well. That`s the best that I can sum it up.
Full Employment – Making the case for the relevance and usefulness of old age pensioners Matthias Vogel and Thomas Oberlies of Germany have created a little documentary for us about a developing employment assistance program. Young Miro is looking forward to seeing this program get off the ground so he can enjoy the full benefits of paid employment. In the mean time he`ll continue to work with Mr. Janssen and help this elderly gentleman continue with his `job`.
Sandik – Hey, what’s in the chest? You wanna know what’s in the chest? Fucked up. That is what is in the chest!
Boob – Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. Breast augmentation surgery goes horribly wrong and a boob goes on a bloody rampage through the hospital halls. I used to be a breast man until I saw this. Thanks, Todd. Thanks a lot. Now I don’t like boobs.
Dara – We have spoken extensively about the Indonesian torture horror short and impending full length feature from the Mo Brothers for some time now. Up until now we’ve have to take Todd’s word for it that this was going to be worth it. And how does it hold up? Very good. Very good indeed. Shareefa Daanish is one hell of a bird to look at yet she freaks the hell out of me. Dara has a really good blend of torture and humour. Not laugh out loud funny but just enough to help with the chainsaws and crossbows!

Sofia Carillo - the director of Out Of Control (Fuera De Control) is going to be at the screening!
So sad that the Adam Wingard short is only 3 minutes. Sigh.
While I agree that more Wingard is always a good thing, Laura Panic is perfect the way it is ...
