Two minutes of One-Eye kicking Viking ass in 'Valhalla Rising' clip!

by Andrew Mack, May 20, 2009 3:10 AM

Now. We all know that Todd has a massive man crush on Denmark's Nicolas Winding Refn and professed his cinematic love for this director over the years. And why the hell not? If you haven't seen the Pusher trilogy then you are sadly missing out on some great crime cinema; it'll put hair on your chest! His other films are fantastic and we have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of his Viking film Valhalla Rising.

For years, One-Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the chieftain Barde. Aided by a boy, Are, he kills his captor and together they escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight from bounty hunters, One-Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that first disintegrates as they sight an unknown land. As the new land reveals its secrets and the Vikings meet a ghastly fate, One-Eye discovers his true self.

So when we got wind of more footage we knew we had to share it with you. This new footage comes courtesy of the Scottish Screen Show Reel being shown around Cannes. The final minutes of this reel are from Valhalla Rising and feature a brutal fight between One-Eye and a couple of cranky vikings. Unfortunately we couldn't get the sound to work on the reel but that only minutely takes away from the footage you're about to see. Skip to end and watch One-Eye take out a couple vikings!

Thanks Sue!

Milky eye bleeds in Casino Royale, and now playing One Eye. Mads runs the risk of becoming stereotyped not unlike Michael Ironside with limb trauma. Looks good though.

@scott He has done plenty different films, he's pretty versatile. Though yes, he strangely enough gets his eye blown away in Adam's Apples too...
