One of the giant robots in Jeffrey Lau's sci-fi romantic comedy Metallic Attraction: Kungfu Cyborg has been revealed on a poster at display in Cannes. It appears the design on this robot is based off the Jiang Shi, the long-robed, hopping chinese vampires popularizes in the 80's classic Mr. Vampire series. For a look on its concept art, go here.
Kungfucinema.com reports Kungfu Cyborg was acquired for North American distribution by Strategic Film Partners. The film will be release theatrically in China on August 13th.

Sometimes, we need one of these "Jeff Lau is off his meds again" sort of films, just to remind us how utterly insane cinema is capable of being. If it'll be good or bad is beside the point - this appears to be almost too berzerk for such simplifications to apply.
