Here Come More Dead School Girls. WHISPERING CORRIDORS Returns.

by Todd Brown, May 11, 2009 5:46 AM

When it comes to the world of Asian horror few series have run as long, with as much success as Korea's Whispering Corridors. The hugely popular series of horror pictures first arrived on the scene in 1998 and became the prototypical summer horror franchise in the nation. Characters change from installment to installment but what the entire series shares is the setting of an all girl's high school. And now here comes installment number five, this one revolving around a group of girls who swear a blood oath of friendship and devotion, swearing even to go into death with each other. Which becomes a problem when one of the girls commits suicide and the rest are haunted by spiritual forces intent on holding them to their oath ...

Expect a summer release for this one and check out the first teaser below the break!

scraping the bottom of the barre aren't they? Saw the first three. All would have benefitted from a distinct lack of spooks and attempted scares, Memento Mori in particular.

I have only seen "part" 2 and 4
"Memento Mori" was just excellent, still one of my favorite Korean films ...
To my surprise I liked "Voice" (part 4) also very much ...
So, i'm interested :)

I'm also in!

I like "Memento Mori" a lot. It's a beautiful requiem. "Voice" was also interesting. I'm not as enthusiast about "Whispering Corridors" and "Wishing Stairs", but they were still nicely done. What I like about this serie is that it explores an intimate, romantic side of "horror". Actually "horror" is not the right genre here, "Ghost drama" would be more appropriate: stories about betrayal, loneliness, suicide, revenge...

I've only seen 'Memento Mori', which I think is a minor classic, but if they can deliver some good chills with a fresh spin or two, I'm in.
