Lars von Trier may be anti-Christ but apparently God is anti-Lars. This morning's Cannes screening of Antichrist? Projector broke thirty seconds in. This afternoon's? Shut down by a major power outage. I'm waiting in line now for attempt three, which is unfortunately costing me a shot at Bong Joon Ho's Mother.

I think booing is a general reaction to Mr. Von Trier. Either way, I've loved almost everything he's done so far, and from the reaction at CANNES, I'm hugely excited to get Antichrist on this side of the pond.

Booing at a Von Trier movie is just a natural reaction anyone whould have while watching such gimmicky, pretentious hack jobs of movies.

Word on the Bong was that it was a bit uneven while the Von Trier was easily the most talked about film of the festival. Wasn't an easy decision by any means but I know I'll have chances for Mother soon enough ...
Being the most talked doesn't really say anything about the quality of the film itself. Controversy and good filmaking can be two different things.
