Trailer for Sam Raimi's upcoming horror film 'Drag me to Hell'!

by Andrew Mack, March 12, 2009 4:26 AM

This is why I don't go pissing off elderly women from the old country. They steal your buttons and put a dang curse on your ass. I will brave rush hour traffic just to get to the other side of the street if it means not bumping into a nagyanya and suffering her wrath! Let us all learn a lesson from Sam Raimi. There are two evils in this world; Bankers and enraged grannies!

Director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man series, Evil Dead trilogy) will debut a work-in-progress version of Universal Pictures' horror film Drag Me to Hell, the long awaited return to his roots in the genre. The film, which stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long, is an original tale of a young woman's desperate quest to break an evil curse. Raimi will be in attendance to introduce the screening at midnight, Sunday, March 15, at the Paramount Theatre. SXSW Press Release

We're all eager to see Sam back to his horror roots and see if he's still got the goods and if the script he and his brother Ivan wrote is worthy of our praise and adoration. The trailer is after the bump and so is the comments section. And don't forget about the screening happening at SXSW in Austin!

It's great that Raimi is back to horror, don't get me wrong but I wasn't blown away by this trailer and is seems to be a mix of Stephen King's Thinner and David Goyer's The Unborn and I have to say that the trailer for Unborn was better than this one, though I hear the movie itself is pretty bad.

My girlfriend said she got goosebumps from this trailer though.

this will probably have some really good scenes.

i have to say though that the stuff with the fly going into the girl's mouth or her lying down in her bed and having a corpse lying next to her is at this point BEYOND cliche.

having said that, i get a feeling there are going to be some really, really good scenes. which hopefully will make up for the standard exposition and horror movie filler.

This has me super excited but the trailer seems to be showing a bit too much.

Looks like a hell of a good time!!

the choice of a young blonde woman as heartless banker is interesting. an older male approximating madoff would be what, even truer horror? LOL

I agree with Swarez. If it weren't for Raimi's name being attached, I'd say this looks pretty generic. It's received some strong early buzz. But then again, that's coming from the aintitcool folks so I take all of that with a grain of salt.

But even Raimi's name isn't quite enough for me anymore, and I'm one of the 5 people who enjoyed Spider Man 3 despite its glaring faults. But Raimi's been producing forgettable, watered down, half ass J-Horror remakes and copies for a solid 7 or 8 years now. The Grudge, Boogeyman, The Messengers, Fear is Real, Rise?

Raimi's strongest talent is also one of his greatests weaknesses. He wants to please EVERYONE. Keeping my fingers crossed but not keeping too high expectations. I'd really like to see Raimi take another leave of absence from popcorn films and pump out another Simple Plan or The Gift.

The PG-13 rating worries me and it's not just because it means no gore. The MPAA will rate a film on its tone and intensity. PG-13 means it's probably not that scary or intense.

I got a real sense of tension aswell as creepy shizzle from that trailer. I have a semi for this film.
