Dennis Law Gets Grim With A VERY SHORT LIFE

by Todd Brown, March 3, 2009 6:38 AM

No doubt about it, director Dennis Law can be one frustratingly inconsistent man. His work as a producer is generally solid - and, in the case of Election, occasionally spectacular - but when he steps behind the camera himself the results can vary wildly. Wu Jing star vehicle Fatal Contact, for instance, is one solid piece of pulp entertainment. The follow up, Fatal Move, however, is almost unbearably bad. And what's next for Law? Well, let's just say he aint about to win any 'feel good movie of the year' awards with A Very Short Life ...

The film is a Cat III drama that delves into the world of child abuse and from the trailer I'm honestly not sure whether this is going to be a serious treatment of the topic or veer into exploitation territory. There are definitely some moments in there that could go either way. It does appear well shot, though, and I confess to being curious as to which Law shows up this time around. Check the trailer below the break!

Wow! Just Wow!

The trailer itself definitely wanted to give off an exploitation image... with the "never before seen in CATIII films!!!" and everything. But the film itself could turn out to be quite interesting

Thank you so much for saying what needed to be said about Fatal Move. Just friggin' awful -- CGI blood!?! Great cast totally wasted too.
