The other week we got our hands on a conceptual image for the upcoming animated collaboration between Ryuhei Kitamura [Versus] and Shunji Iwai [All about Lily Chou-Chou] titled Baton. Now, thanks to a heads up from Mr. Magee over at J-Film Pow-Wow, we now know some more details about the cast, the plot and how the show will be presented.

Earlier today [Japan time] in a press conference the two directors introduced their two leads, Aya Ueto (middle left) and Hayato Ichihara (middle right). The rest of the cast will be rounded out by Ren Osugi, Takashi Naito, Mura Mi, and Tatsuya Fujiwara. Ueto and Ichihara will play the two main characters, Apollo and Michal, on a future Earth and they live side by side with intelligent robots.

Instead of a 50 minute film it was revealed today that Baton will be a trio of 20 minute episodes instead. They will screen at Theater Future on the bay in Yokohama from April 28th to September 27th.
