Ooh. It may only be 41 seconds long but the teaser trailer for Yoichi Sai's adaptation of the manga, The Legend of Kamui by Sanpei Shirato, is very impressive. What is more impressive is that the role of the title character is being played by Kenichi Matsuyama, the same Kenichi Matsuyama who has starred recently in Detroit Metal City and the Death Note films. This will mark his first true action role and though the glimpses of him are brief I almost didn't recognize him at first. Somebody's been working out and given a sword.
You can find the trailer after the break. The Legend of Kamui opens on September 19th in Japan.

Looks good.
yoichi sai, salways so serious :D
Looks very good!
Mmmmmm ... my heart beat just a little bit faster. Looks good.
Kudo Kankuro co-wrote it? The manga is pretty much unfilmable, since it lurches wildly between lengthy nature analogies and communist propaganda, only occasionally remembering to advance the increasingly ludicrous plot, but there's enough gold in there to make it pretty compelling despite that.
Looks amazing! I really hope the movie will be same strong in storytelling, as the manga is.
I think perhaps we need to see a more complete trailer before deciding on how good the movie can be.
On a sidenote, I wonder if there are plans to film Blade of the Immortal, it was made into an anime series recently. If its done well, I imagine it can turn out like Tsui Hark's Blade, where the fight scenes are more visceral and gritty rather than pretty.
Blade of inmortal mmmh... well, the mixing gore and sensibility could be interesting. But to be honest I have my doubts so I hope not.
Also, the animation is so so terrible. It´s really tiring, boring... with that horrible music that completely break the climax and very poor combat scenes. I really can´t imagine how the wonderful atmosphere of the manga ended like that. I couldn´t stand it.
very cool... but i want to see more of the action
looks fucking epic
