DVD News

Oh, it is about that time again.

It has been half a decade since Kill Bill part 2 hit the theatres, and it seems to be an annual tradition that murmurs of the combined version of Kill Bill, aka The Whole Bloody Affair bubble to the surface. With the publicity engine for Inglorious Basterds warming up, check this off the calender. The folks at the Q.T. Archives remind us of the details of the 2006 Cannes version and previous Quentin Tarantino promises of an integrated version of the film on DVD:

House of Blue Leaves fight massacre in color, slightly differently cut No "Klingon proverb" quote. Instead a dedication. Gorier anime scenes Extra O-Ren anime footage added Various other scenes slightly longer Sofie Fatale loses more limbs Short (music-accompanied) intermission between two parts No "baby" cliffhanger ending

As Inglorious Basterds continues to occupy his attention, I am not holding my breath for this DVD set (and yes I do want it, despite that the two parts probably play better as separate entities and I really like the Uma driving rear-projection transition between the parts). Yet, as indicated above: It is tradition to talk about this once a year.

Hahaha, weird I didn't see this one coming around the bend(er) again ...

I sure have become fond and used to the Vol.1 (Japanese cut) and Vol.2 structure ... some decent dvd/blu-ray extra's or commentaries would be nice though ...

Personally I love the "baby" cliffhanger ending

Eh, I just liked the movie and want to see it the way it was originally intended to be shown. Until I can see it that way I'll continue to not own it. The Cult of Tarantino is of little interest to me. He's a director with some strengths and some weaknesses. The people who hate him and s**t bricks because his picture's on the (old) CHUNGKING EXPRESS cover art (probably not even his decision to make) leave me about as confused as those who worship him as the second coming of Christ or Godard or something. And the people who get their panties in a knot because he made a loose, uncredited remake of a Hong Kong film (CITY ON FIRE) from a time when Hong Kong cinema was full of loose, uncredited remakes of American films (a film by a director with a loose, uncredited remake of Peter Weir's WITNESS under his belt, no less) - those people actively irritate me.

I already own the DL DVD Kill Bill The Whole Bloody Affair.

It`s a lovely 2007 fanedit made by a Japanese fan.

For those talking about the 'MPAA Raped Version' of Vol.1, a little research wouldn't go astray...

No Way, dude.
You can't convince me. As I said, Tarantino is a brand, just because there's Tarantino on "Death Proof", it doesn't say anything about quality.
And you know what, "Death Proof" was boring and annoying, and in my opinion it's the worst that can happen to a movie. And I think the audiences felt this way too, same with my friends, when we were back then in the theater.
By the way, "Planet Terror" is definitly the better one, at least it was hillarious funny.

seriously, that's your post rebel_scum? I've ordered this film from Hong Kong, Japan and bought it in the states. I LOVE this film and was making a statement based on interviews i had read with QT talking about the House Of Blue Leaves in particular crossing the line for the MPAA. If you have some other info, please feel free to share it, but don't be a prick. I don't usally use talk backs because of the trolls out there, but I love KILL BILL too much!
