Ip Man 2 Is A Go

by The Visitor, January 9, 2009 10:30 AM

I'm not sure if this is a good idea at all, but it seems the sequel to Ip Man, Donnie Yen's new superb martial arts biopic, has been greenlighted.

Ip Man is one of the best martial arts films to come out in a long time, and it stands nicely as a single biopic that needs no continuation. But it's making so much money that I guess Mandarin Films can't help but push for a sequel. According to Variety's report, the sequel also seems like a rush job, with production scheduled for June. But seeing as how the partnership of Donnie Yen, Wilson Yip and Sammo Hung has been incredibly fruitful, there's definitely hope that the sequel will be as good, if not better.

Actually, I think they may have had plans for Ip Man 2 before it even released in theaters.

Yes it has to segue with a Bruce Lee appearance, what's Jason Scott Lee doing these days?

So when does this come to the US? Ha ha, just kidding.

If Bruce Lee is in the movie, please do not use Jason Scott Lee for the role.

However, if they use the guy who played Chow's first goalkeeper in "Shaolin Soccer"...

Any chance they need a younger girl that knows wing chun in the 2nd Ip Man?
