Kim Ki-Duk's DREAM Coming To DVD!

by Todd Brown, December 4, 2008 10:10 PM

While I run hot and cold on Korea's Kim Ki-Duk his films always make me sit up and take notice. His latest directorial effort, Dream, is by all accounts one of his strongest, a big commercial and critical hit in Korea now poised to roll out internationally thanks to Japanese mega star Joe Odagiri in the lead role. Odagiri stars as a man linked to a Korean woman via his dreams: whatever he dreams she acts out while sleepwalking, a situation that leads to tragedy.

Will this one reach the heights Kim hit with 3 Iron? We'll be able to find out soon with the English subtitled Korean DVD release slated to arrived December 24th. Check the trailers below the break and hit the link below to order the DVD.

Sounds interesting. It's not due to come out here in Japan until the end of February by the looks of things. I'll be interested to see what reaction it gets: Japanese audiences have gone totally cold on Korean cinema recently (even if I don't think they were ever particularly hot on Kim Ki-Duk in the first place), and Odagiri, while definitely a big star, doesn't have a particularly good track record for guaranteeing bums on seats...
