Japanese Trailer Arrives For Kim Ki-Duk's DREAM

by Todd Brown, December 4, 2008 12:57 PM

It wasn't all that long ago that Korean arthouse director Kim Ki-Duk was threatening - and generally following through - to release his films in ultra short runs on very few screens in his native land and with no trailers or promotional materials produced. Why would he do such a thing? Because he felt like the Korean press was unfairly savaging him and since his films weren't making any money there anyway why go to the trouble? How times have changed ...

Kim's most recent film - Dream - was a big box office success when it released in Korea earlier this year and now, riding on the popularity of its Japanese lead actor Joe Odagiri, it is preparing for a full theatrical release in Japan as well. The film stars Odagiri as a man seemingly linked to a Korean woman via his dreams and her sleepwalking: Whatever he dreams she does, which leads to some tragic results.

No word yet on when this will come to western shores but we've got the brand new Japanese trailer along with the earlier Korean version embedded below the break.
