It's the end of what has become an unlikely Canadian icon: responding to multiple rumours and repeated questioning about the future of Canuck cult hit The Trailer Park Boys creator Mike Clattenburg says this on the blog of Canadian broadcaster - and producers - Showcase:
"We have a final one hour television special, “Say Goodnight To The Bad Guys”, which goes to air on Showcase on Sunday, December 7, 2008. Then after that, our sequel movie, “Countdown To Liqour Day” (working title), is due to be released in Canadian theatres in October, 2009. But, after that, there will be no more."
It's the end of the Trailer Park. We'll miss it.

Absolutely amazing show BUT the movie was awful and Season 7 was so disappointing. I really hope this special and sequel don’t further trample the memory of a truly great show (but I have a terrible feeling they will).
I liked the movie, though it certainly wasn't perfect and it threw established continuity out the window - it was very much a movie based upon TRAILER PARK BOYS rather than a continuation of the story. Ivan Reitman's fingerprints are too prominent.
As for the divisive HD-shot season 7 - it had more than enough moments to make it worthwhile, but the over-emphasis on Randy and the Phil Collins family and their catchphrases (overcompensation for a lack of Corey and Trevor) greatly weakened it. A subpar TRAILER PARK BOYS season is still better than most other things one might see on television. It was fun watching Lahey and the boys team up for half of the season, and seeing the transformation of alcoholism into their answer to The Force come to full fruition. Season 7 was funny all in all, but it was definitely not a worthy note for them to be going out on. I imagine the TPB team recognized as much; this show deserves a proper wrap-up.
Loved. LOVED (!!!) seasons 1-4. The Movie is execrable. Really embarrassing. But I love the characters, and wish the cast and crew all the best on moving on. We'll always have Halifax.
this show was amazing and I will miss the shit out of it. Think I'll go have a rum and coke in it's honor.
