UPDATE: We've Got The Trailer Here, You'll Find It Embedded Below The Break.
Yahoo has announced that they will be releasing a brand spanking new trailer for Zak Snyder's Watchmen tonight at 5pm PST - just over an hour from when I typed this - and it'll be right here. Yeah, I'm looking forward to this one a little bit.

From the trailer looks like a mixed bag for me...
Yummy. I am a sucker for comic adaptations and I am probably one of the few on this site that likes Snyder just fine.
Some of the voices were a bit of a surprise after the lack of dialog in the first one - definitely looking forward to it though.
Looks great. But if the alien isn't in it... ho hum.
still cautious.
manga style leather shiny superduper hairstyled mtv ad look doesn't help either for a movie based on a novel using washed-out, muted, non-primary colors.
somehow reminds me all of mystery men with ben stiller.
Hmmm, my eyes say yes, but that thing behind them says, "Oh my god, Allen Moore's gonna beat someone with his cane over this one." It all looks gorgeous, perhaps edible, but that's also the problem. The world of the book was decidedly unglamorous and grimy, creating a brutal milieu for real world superheroes.
And is this whole movie going to be in slow motion? 300 was, so I guess that answers my question.
Am I the only one that is really put off by the voice-acting of Jackie Haley? His Rorshach voice is really underwhelming, to my mind.
Oh and nice ELECTRIC DRAGON reference, dragon-eye.
Agreed Simon. I thought Jackie Haley'd be perfect for Rorsarch, now I'm not so sure. He's trying waaayyy too hard, he sounds like some cross between a kid in a Watchmen fan film on youtube and Christian Bale's Batman.
NightOwl and silk spectre are FAR too attractive. Part of the power was that they were middle aged, NightOwl impotent, fat, slow. SIlk Spectre with her big, floppy tits and mammoth thighs. These were superheroes who grew old and became typical, lonely, sad people. These Watchmen look way too much like X-Men.
Still, the trailer most definitely got me interested, but I think it may be the music more than anything. This still has potential to be an epic fail. Also still has potential to be mind blowing.
Zak Snyder is an amazing commercial director, 300 was entertainging (dumb & facist, but hey, that's more at faultof Frank Miller. fuck The Spirit, Cough... Cough.), Dawn of the Dead was competently made. I have no doubt this will be visually remarkable. But I'm not so sure about the cast. They're all SOOO Young and model(ish). ugh.
Yeah the voice bugged me as well. Why not get a raspy voiced actor to do the part rather than fake it?
The only one who looked like he's aged is the Comedian in the beginning.
It doesn't really look like the comic, but it looks like it should be an entertaining movie. The choice of Philip Glass music is different, though. Usually its all mega epic or heavy metal. Rorschach looks neat, but the voice does seem a little weak. Looks too shiny but I'll go see it.
I'm just not getting the excitement surrounding this film. Everything I've seen has been rather uninspired. Sure it superficially looks like Watchmen, but that's about it. Having now heard some dialogue I'm even less excited. The words lack the punch of Moore's writing and all of the voice acting in this trailer sounds pretty bad. Why Snyder chose to use Crudup's natural voice is anyone's guess but it doesn't seem to fit the character. Jackie Earl Haley's Rorsarch is merely passable, lacking the bizarre cadence in the comic. The man should sound emotionally detached and insane imo.
Also I'm not a fan of slavish recreation. Snyder's films are stylistic exercises, nothing more. The slo-mo to fast-mo stuff is especially annoying. Watchmen's universe is gritty and dilapidated-- the film looks way too glossy. Dark lighting and rain does not gritty make. And is it just me or does the effects work stick out like a sore thumb (in a bad way)? Dr. Manhattan looks utterly ridiculous. The Vietnam shots look like a PS3 game. Hopefully those are still unfinished scenes. Another gripe, Patrick Wilson is too good looking to be playing Night Owl. What was great about the character was that he was doughy and out-of-shape, an average schmo who's a shell of the former hero. At least the Comedian looks spot on...
Anyone know who the narrator is???
They'll probably remake this anyway.
@The Visualist:
The excitement comes from the fact that a large percentage of comic book fans just want to see books made into movies, even if they aren't well suited for it or are adapted poorly.
A large percentage of comic book fans also read complete shit and probably just thought Watchmen was a neat superhero book anyway.
Hollywood hasn't successfully adapted an Alan Moore movie yet. No reason to believe they will start with this one. Maybe if it's 3+ hours long I'll change my mind. By removing the flaws of the heroes, they have forgotten their humanity. Nightowl is not fat and impotent, Spectre is not overweight, Rorschach is not the insane midget on stilts. Indiemaker said it right above, it's like they are the X-men, model looks and chiseled abs. Looks like the movie will be all style, no substance. I hope Snyder puts out a 4 hour director's cut or something and proves me wrong.
Yeah, anton, I was reminded of Mystery Men, too. What's really sad to me is that this looks like it's getting the run-of-the-mill comic adaptation when the comic itself was anything but run-of-the-mill. I don't get comic-based movies have to be super slick with blue lightning coming out of everything. And did the trailer call Snyder a "visionary"?
