Our thanks go out to Desiree for pointing out the impending English friendly DVD releases of King of the Hill (El Rey De La Montana) director Gonzalo Lopez Gallego's first two films Nomadas and Sobre El Arcoiris. Releasing on November 19th in Spain the DVDs are coming from Spain's Versus Entertainment who recently did a fantastic DVD special edition of Nacho Cerda's short films and if that release is any indication of Versus' normal level of quality then you can expect these releases to be something special. Both are special editions, loaded with commentaries, short films and behind the scenes reels and while I cannot yet confirm 100% that the bonus features will include subtitles - the Cerda release subtitled absolutely everything - the features will include the original language audio track plus subtitles in English, Spanish and French.
So, there you have it ... The Weinstein Company is still sitting on the film that brough Lopez Gallego to international attention, with El Rey De La Montana yet to receive an English friendly DVD release anywhere in the world a year and a half after TWC bought it, but at least fans will be able to lay hands on these early films soon ...
