At this year's Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival I had the pleasure to watch a double-bill of Japanese splatter-fest "Machine Girl" and the incredibly grungy Austrian thriller-comedy "On Evil Grounds". And while "Machine Girl" was the most gory of the two, if both films had been vying for the position of filthiest movie of the evening "On Evil Grounds" would have... yuck... won.
But if you had the stomach for it you were rewarded with what might just be the funniest take on "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" ever. Director Peter Koller has made a strangely compelling film about some very antisocial people duking it out amongst each other in, of all places, Austria. His film has won awards left and right, and I was very positive about it in my review.
And now, in its Heimat, it has been released as a stellar two-disc DVD release. The package is a full-tilt special edition with nearly endless extras including a commentary track, a 90 minute "making of", a production booklet and an older short by the same director.
I can't tell you yet if the extras have English subtitles, but the good news is that the main feature does have them! WOOT!
Ordering is a bit tricky as our affiliates don't have direct links to it yet but should you scroll down the Amazon page and hit that "Germany" link, it's easily found when you use the original title.

Thanks Peter, that's very good news about the subs, wish more companies would sub the extras (mainly those in Japan and Korea).
Do I get a mention too, having written the review? :cheese:
Nah, we never mention the people who give us cool reviews - we only send them free DVDs afterwards :D Drop me a line at peter [at] kop11.com !
