[Carillo has just passed along an additional two stills from the film, raising our current total to four. Yow.]
While I can't go into any great detail here, let me say this about the experience of being on a film festival jury: consensus is a myth. Nobody agrees on anything one hundred percent and there's always a certain amount of give and take required to make decisions. That said, let me introduce you to Fuera De Control, an absolutely brilliant piece of stop motion animation from young - she's still in her twenties, I believe - Mexican director Sofia Carillo.
Brilliant, you say? Why, yes I do. And I'll go even farther than that. Fuera De Control is the single best piece of stop motion animation I've seen in years, Carillo easily matching the technical skills of a Nick Park or Henry Selick and fusing them with the design sense of a Dave McKean. Yes, this is high praise, I am aware of this, and I mean absolutely every word of it. Carillo is sensational. I was so taken with her creation, in fact, that I immediately tracked her down after viewing it and asked if she had a trailer so that I could share it with you, the Twitch faithful. She didn't at the time but rather than cause a grown man to cry she has agreed to create one for us. That should be arriving shortly but just to whet the appetite before it arrives she has included a pair of gorgeous stills from the film. Just imagine these things in motion ...

Those stills remind me of Adam Jones (who is maybe best known for his work on several music videos for the rockband Tool).
Can't wait to see the trailer and see what got to you, Todd!
Better than Mme Tuttli Putli? I'll believe that when I see it.
tutli putlo would be the only other recent one to challenge this, in my mind.
has a quay brothers creepiness look to it....looking forward to the trailer
OK, now that I've seen the latest two screenshots I'll forget I mentioned Adam Jones.
I can't wait to see this :)
