Could there be anything more American than the 1950s sock hop? The duck tails, the crazy suits, the cars, the exaggerated sense of style? It was a cultural phenomenon at the time, and while it looks peculiar even when we look back on American kids doing it now it looks positively bizarre when that scene is transposed into Russia but, believe it or not, Russia's counter-culture teens of the time adopted the look as their own while living under Stalin and that movement has been captured in upcoming flick Stilyagi.
