Now, unless I very much miss my mark the enormous majority of you reading this have no idea who Jonas Govaerts is. But while you may not know his name you will be hearing more of it, I can guarantee you that. Govaerts was just awarded the Melies D'Or award naming his short film the best short of 2008 as chosen by the European Federation of Fantastic Film Festivals so you know he's got some serious skill behind the camera. And right now Govaerts is taking part in an online project called Shockers initiated by horror writer Richard Christian Matheson for which a group of directors are adapting Matheson short stories into very short - the limit is meant to be three and a half minutes - short films.
Govaerts' entry is titled Abused and is the story of a woman listening to her husband being tortured over the phone. Govaerts has passed along a series of images from the film and while some are actual stills and some are behind the scenes shots, all of them are very impressive. More on the project as we get it.
