David S. Goyer is Unborn.

by Swarez, October 10, 2008 2:39 AM

David S. Goyer is one of the most prolific genre writers out there and once in a while he dabbles in directing. His directing efforts have not been as successful as his writing gigs, Blade 3 was pretty much hated by the fans even though I don't think it's that bad and The Invisible was just that to most people out there. But I just watched the trailer for his new film The Unborn, starring Gary Oldman and I have to say this thing looks fucked up, in a good way. Doesn't start out very promising though, pretty much run of the mill asianesque ghost story but the second half of the trailer kicks all sorts of freaky ass. Hopefully the finished film packs as much punch as the later part of this trailer does.
An interview with Goyer and the trailer have been posted over at MTV.com so head on over and take a gander.

Eh. Some of the crazier stuff towards the end looks fun. But... David Goyer is a hack, always has been. He's a shitty, shitty writer. Blade 1 & 2 are awful scripts, it was superb direction on behlaf of Nottingham and Del Toro that made those awesome.

Batman Begins.. Same thing, great direction, terrible fucking script, goddamn awful, ham fisted, heavy handed horse shit. And while Goyer's name is still on Dark Knight, he's even admitted that he had little to nothing to do with it.

He's a hollywood gun for hire without a single original idea in his fucking head. Dead children aren't scary anymore, and while I like looking at hot women, having your entire cast as super models is tacky and distracting from the scares.

Films are more terrifying when we can actually relate to the charters emotionally and physically.

Some cool images, but I have no hopes for this. Goyer blows.

jumper= shit script
crow, city of angels= shit script
Nicky Fury, Agent of S.H.E.I.L.D.= shit script, shit movie.

And fuck giving him credit for Dark City. He was brought in by the studios to tame Proyas script. It pisses me off this guy keeps getting high paying gigs.
