Look, when Clint Eastwood tells you to get off his lawn you get off his lawn. It shouldn't really matter whether he's got a shotgun in his hands or not at the time, if he wants you off you'd better hurry up and get off. That's just how life is.
Yes, I know Eastwood has never really been away, even as he ages he continues to work at a furious pace, but with most of his recent efforts being contained purely behind the camera it seems like it's been forever since Eastwood had a meaty role of his own, even longer since we saw him in a lead. Well, no more. Eastwood takes the lead in his latest directorial effort, Gran Torino, playing a crusty Korean War veteran drawn into an ethnic gang conflict in his rapidly changing neighborhood. And, honestly, if there was ever any doubt as to why Eastwood is a living legend the freshly released first trailer for this film should quell any of those questions. Even at seventy-eight one of the biggest bad-asses in cinema history has still got it. If there's a single other actor of comparable age anywhere in the world who could pull of a role like this I'd love to know who it is because Eastwood is the only one showing up on my list.

Although he isn't always right up my alley, I can appreciate what Clint Eastwood has been doing the last few years behind the camera.

Love it. Tough guy Clint. There's just very few that do it better. And at this age, he still looks great at doing it. The gravel in his throat just makes it better too.
