Sorry, David Fincher, as much as I love your adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club I've always thought your films were just a touch too slick for Palahniuk's particular world. And Clark Gregg? Well, you got my favorite of Palahniuk's novels and made one brilliant casting choice in Sam Rockwell but you just don;t have the required sense of style to really make it go. Lawrence Frank? You've got a fighting chance of making a good film of Survivor but I don't expect it to look much like the novel by the time you're done. But this? This is brilliant news.
The rights to bring Palahniuk's Haunted to the big screen have just been purchased by Belgian director Koen Mortier, he of Ex Drummer fame, and if ever there was a perfect match of director and material this is it. Ex Drummer is one nasty kick-to-the-nuts of a film, also a literary adaptation, and shows that Mortier has the absolute perfect combination of grit and style to make Palahniuk really sing on screen. Mortier has already announced a couple of other projects to be shot in Belgium so it's not entirely clear when this will be happening but it definitely is coming and can't arrive soon enough.

Best film news of 2008. Seriously.
This should be really, really dirty/grimy/gritty. Looking very much forward to it.
Simon, the comment was not meant to be taken literally. It was a joke, maybe a bad joke at that, but still a joke nonetheless.
Oop; had a feeling that was the case but honestly wasn't sure. Sorry about that.
Heh, no problem. I guess there is a reason why I haven't quit my day job yet.
hahahahaha I can't wait to see the filmed version of the story of the boy who's ass got sucked up into the pool bubbler.
