Pretty much from the day it was announced Toby Wilkins' Splinter has been a big buzz title on the horror circuit, a stature reinforced by whispers from those who have seen bits and pieces - everybody seems to agree that it's very good - and the fact that the producers have adopted a less-is-more approach to the marketing. The less they show it seems the more people talk and speculate about it. Basically all that's been known so far is that it's about a highly advanced virus that mutates whatever its host organism may be into whatever form is best suited to get at the next victim - a description that raises visions of The Thing in many minds.
Well, with the film getting a theatrical release in October the time to hide everything is coming to an end and the first trailer has just arrived. In keeping with the general approach thus far it's very light on creature effects but the premise is solid, execution looks very solid, and the cast is strong. Check it in the Twitch Player below the break.

Looks pretty good. With Cuban producing is this getting a simultaneous DVD and PPV release like a lot of his other films?
It's actually going VOD a week or two BEFORE the theatrical release.
