The things you find on the Internet...
Looks like Bong Joon-Ho wasn't just seeing black creatures while staring outside the window of his school. No, he was killing time preparing for his big splash in the limelight, drawing.... animation! SF at that. On his schoolbook, that is. Big props to the folks at Fantastique (a new genre novel-driven magazine by Choi Won-Taek and Jo Min-Joon, two of the fine folks who brought us the late, great TV drama magazine Dramatique) for shooting this, and the Djuna board for spotting it. I could go on and explain at length, but let's just watch, and may the force be with you...
below the break, that is.

Love the picture of the Vader-balloon!
That's awesome! It's always good to realise that the greatest genre filmakers are just film-geeks like the rest of us. I used to have a flick-book recreating the exploding head scene from 'Scanners'. Cronenberg (and Fangoria #9) have a LOT to answer for...
Was that a self-made flick book? Or some incredible limited edition marketing... if so I want one. Now.
He made it himself while in middle school. Said he made dozens like that, but that's all that survives.
i made a few flip books in middle school as well, but I wouldn't want anyone to see them. Mostly stick figures performing various sex acts.
Im pretty sure the second part was him recreating one of the levels from Star Fox for the SNES with Star Wars fighters. Which is awesome.
LOL
How cool is that! I made a bunch of these too in school. And I still have some of them stored in a box somewhere. Pretty sick stuff, bursting heads, exploding cars... Maybe it's about time for digital remastering.
lol thats awesome.
