While there are several reasons there is a boom in horror and genre film across the entire Nordic region right now if you had to pick one over riding cause, the one most significant factor then that factor is Roar Uthaug's Fritt Vilt or Cold Prey. The first slasher film ever produced in Norway the film attracted stacks of international attention thanks to its stellar production values and became a huge hit throughout the region thanks to Uthaug's skills creating believable characters and building tension. Not only does Uthaug have one of the best names ever for a horror film director but he's also one incredibly skilled film maker. So, with Fritt Vilt banking stacks of cash producers suddenly became bold and realized there was a future in this horror stuff and then train got rolling ...
And now the original is back. No, Uthaug is not directing the sequel himself (boo!) but that's because he's developing some other feature projects (yay!) and he still makes his presence felt on this one as a guiding influence and producer. The story itself picks up right where the original film left off, with the one survivor from round one being carted off to hospital where, once again, Very Bad Things happen. The first teaser for Fritt Vilt 2 has just arrived and it is once again showing off the combination of style, action, blood and strong characters that made the first installment such a success. Check it out below the break in the Twitch Player.

Fritt Vilt is one of my favourite horrors of recent years, along with the excellent Rovdyr. I remember being very taken by the trailer for Fritt Vilt on my dvd of Le Serpent, that I had to seek it out immediately. The characters were much more likeable than the usual bunch of teen-fodder. It didn't necessarily do anything new, just did it better. The teaser for the sequel seems to be borrowing from Halloween 2 with its hospital setting. Its going to be interesting to see who or what the threat is for this movie - the iceman's parents perhaps?
I liked the first one a lot so I'll be there
I hated the first part, mabe the second is better :)
Well I only hope the new director keep his promise about adding much more blood and gore in this movie ,the two main things that was lacking in the first movie.
And soon we will also see Dead Snow AKA Red Snow, the splatter/gore movie featuring freshly awaken WW2 German zombie soldiers killing people in beautiful Norwegian snowy mountain locations.
