First Look At The Teaser For Japanese Horror END CALL

by Todd Brown, July 13, 2008 11:22 PM

While you can make a pretty good argument that the J-Horror ship has sailed you also shouldn't forget taht the reason the boom started in the first place is because when done right that distinctly Japanese approach to horror films is pretty damn effective. Is there still a bit of gas in the J-Horror tank? Well, back during the Cannes market I had the chance to see a reel of footage from Kiyoshi Yamamoto's upcoming End Call and came away surprisingly impressed. It's a very well shot and well constructed film and while the premise is nothing new - a group of high school girls make a deal with the devil via cell phone and end up dead - it looks to be very well executed. If you'll pardon the pun.

Anyway ... we have just been given what I believe is the very first look at the first teaser for the film to appear anywhere in the world. Check it out below the break in the Twitch Player and weigh in with your opinion.

Sticking to the time-tested guideline: It just ain't J-horror without Taro Suwa

I agree, well shot, but if it weren't for the summary I would have no idea what this movie is about :P
