Ram Gopal Varma's latest movie Sarkar Raj, starring the Bachchans - Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai, is making its premiere this week. Come August however, he has another movie called Phoonk, which at first glance of the trailer, looks like something that M Night Shayamalan would get involved in. It's touted as A Black Magic Story with the tagline "It's superstition till it happens to you".

I suppose those song and dance numbers will have to make way. Just watched his Sarkar Raj, and yup, no song and dance.
Do films with no song and dance numbers do worse or better at the box office or do people not care. It's been such a mainstay with the Indian film industry that I would think that it would make some sort of difference.
