Sure, the short films of Nacho Cerda have already received a more then serviceable DVD release right here at home but sometimes more really is better and this looks to be one of those cases. Cerda's films - particularly Aftermath - are both notorious and hugely acclaimed and both for good reason. They are striking, powerful works and when viewed a as body of work they really open up some larger issues. No matter how uncomfortable Aftermath may make me I'm a huge admirer of it and a big believer that Cerda is one of the most potent and distinctive voices working in film today. Due for release June 25th, Trilogie de la Muerte is a new Spanish special edition release of Cerda's three short films that comes packed to the gills with special features - over three hundred minutes worth!
