We first came across indie director John R Hand a few years back with his bizarre but compelling feature Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare, which I compared at the time to the early work of Shinya Tsukamoto. Well, Hand is back with a new feature titled Scars of Youth, one he says is more visually inspired by Tarkovsky and Zulawski. Here's how he describes it:
In a post-apocalyptic world 200 years from now, a young man living in a decaying wreck of a cabin in the woods struggles to come to terms with his bleak existence while trying to save his mother from a strange, deathless world.
The film is still in production and information is a bit sketchy but we do have a trio of stills from the picture (one of which is not work safe) linked below. And while there is not yet a trailer for the film Hand has posted a video of himself trying to explain the concept to a group of small children. Really. I love this guy.

The video is great in which he explains the movie to a bunch of kids.
"What is aspocktolpic?"
