A Cory McAbee Sighting!

by Todd Brown, June 25, 2008 10:11 PM

I love me some Cory McAbee, his scifi musical The American Astronaut raking rather high indeed on my personal list of Best Things Ever, and while the multi talented artist always seems to be working on something he doesn't step behind the camera nearly often enough for my liking. So whenever he does it's an event in my particular world. So what have we got?

Well ... when not making films McAbee occupies rather a lot of his time working as a musician, for years as the front man of The Billy Nayer Show with whom he collaborated on the aforementioned American Astronaut. Well, after undergoing a significant change in sound BNS decided a change in name was also need and so they've adopted the name of their feature film endeavor as their very own and are now known as The American Astronaut, just like the film. And the band version has just completed their debut EP, Goodbye California, for which McAbee has created a music video. It's very odd, very minimal and simultaneously very creepy and very funny. You'll find it below the break in the Twitch Player.

Now someone give this man the money to do Werewolf Hunters of the Midwest, okay?

McAbee has a tiny (yet very American Astronaut-y) role in Todd Rohal's THE GUATAMALAN HANDSHAKE, which is out on DVD now. Highly Recommended.
