My thanks to Avery for pointing out this fine piece of celluloid. Fans of kaiju and tokusatsu films - Japanese giant monster and masked hero films, respectively - will want to take a good hard look at the trailer for Greenside a new US indie that takes the films of Japan as an obvious starting point. But here's the thing, this isn't just aping or imitating the genre, it was obviously made by someone who loves and respects these films and - most importantly - wants to make a good one of their own. Very well shot with striking villains, a likable lead, solid martial arts and very impressive CG touches this thing looks like a blast and I can't wait to see more.
