Takeshi Kitano To Battle Guilala!

by Todd Brown, April 28, 2008 12:07 AM

Is Takeshi Kitano's ego still a little bruised over the fact that Matsumoto Hitoshi’s kaiju battling comedy Dai Nipponjin handed his own effort Glory to the Film Maker one thorough beating both in terms of box office results and critical response? Could well be, either that or the man's having a bit of fun taking the piss out of supposed battle of egos between the two. How's that? Kitano has reportedly signed on to play a role in low budget schlock-meister Minoru Kawasaki's upcoming revival of one-shot kaiju monster Guilala. And Kitano's not just going to appear in Kawasaki's Guilala’s Counter Attack: The Touyaku Summit One-Shot Crisis, nope. He's playing the final hero of the piece, a blatant Daimajin knock off called Takemajin. Expect low fi, rubber suit fun ...
