A fascinating little find here in the pages of the Anime News Network, who are pointing to the trailer for Yasuhiro Yoshiura's new animated feature Eve No Jikan or Time of Eve. Now, I'm not familiar with Yoshiura's earlier work but the trailer for this one reminds me very much of Makoto Shinkai's films both in the animation style and in the way that it is set in a near future world but far more concerned with characters than technology. It's a slice of life sort of film, only life in this case happens to play out in a world shared with lifelike robots and androids. The trailer is a very subtle, very engaging bit of work and here's hoping we get the chance to see this on these shores.
