Now, I'm not up enough on my Spanish film to say with confidence that upcoming feature Extremo is the absolute first martial arts film ever produced in that country but it is certainly one of very few if not the first out of the gate and it looks as though it should be a very impressive piece of work. Based around the skills of martial artist Teo García and written by Antonio Trashorras - best known as the writer of Guillermo Del Toro's The Devil's Backbone - the film is gearing up towards production now but they have already put together a pre-production teaser that showcases Garcia's skills and the shadow-drenched, very noir influenced world they intend to create for the film and the pre-production clip is already more polished than a good number of feature films. With Trashorras writing and Garcia's obvious skills this has the potential to be something pretty special ...
Nacho and Teo, two very close friends living in an orphanage, are always getting in trouble. Though they sealed a blood pact to be friends for life, soon Teo is adopted by a Japanese couple and Nacho stays behind in the orphanage. Twenty years later, Teo is now a celebrated businessman bodyguard in Barcelona after escaping from the Japanese mafia. Nacho, now a rich man into a lot of shady businesses, has become an occasional street fighter in betting fights. When they meet up again by chance, things will not turn out to be the way they would have expected…
You'll find the teaser in the Twitch Player below the break.

The shot with the chain sword looking thing was pretty goofy, but otherwise it looks like it could be promising.
A friend who lives in Barcelona tells me "it's an amateur movie that uses the name of a male porn star as the bad guy to try to attract the media.." YIKES!
It looks nice...but there isn't anything that really stands out. That sword reminds me of the Bone-Sword from Brotherhood of the Wolf.
Sorry but that looks bad, cheesy cgi, dull fights, and...secret undeground tournaments? I know MA films are not always very original, but seriously, that's the same plot of like 9 direct-to-video cheesecakes.
Nacho Vidal was the number one porn star in the spanish speakin market, really famous in Spain but with the same kind of brainless reputation of no talent Paris Hilton. Vidal stared in the (suposed) goriest erotic film ever "Gorex: The Zombi Horror Picture Show", there's is a myth in Spain that this movie is really gross and disturbing, but is really hard to find.
Some of the fighting looked decent, but there's too much Seagal patty-caking going on. And Nacho Vidal? Good lord. Seriously?
