Well, glory be! Don Brown at Ryuganji brings news of Japanese star Tadanobu Asano's sophomore directorial effort, a short titled 224466 prepared as part of an anthology project revolving around a famous Japanese highway. So what does Asano do when told to make a movie about a highway? He casts himself as an alien. A dying alien. An alien dying because it has lost the drum kit that is the source of its power, a drum kit that can only be regained by defeating a child prodigy in a guitar showdown. Do you see now why I love this man? The script is by Shinji Aoyama, who I also love.
The overarching project is titled R246 Story and you'll find the full skinny over at Ryuganji ... this thing's going to be crazy ...

Shido Nakamura seems to be directing a segment too.
that's like one of the best ideas for a film that i've ever heard. asano rocks. i look forward to this!
Japan knows how to do a good anthology/omnibus. This looks like another winner.
