A Trailer and Five Clips For Jeremy Podeswa's FUGITIVE PIECES

by Todd Brown, March 25, 2008 9:05 AM

Speaking as a good Canadian boy I feel there are certain things that I am required to like, things that were I to speak badly of them the CanCon police would pull me bodily from my home and poke me in my sensitive areas with sharp sticks. This is one of those things. Director Jeremy Podeswa is one of Canada's truly great and yet very much underseen directors, a man who has basically had to go work in Hollywood to pay his bills - he's shot a good load of very good stuff for HBO - because his home country just doesn't support his work at home enough for him to make a living and he makes his return home here to shoot an adaptation of Fugitive Pieces, a hugely acclaimed novel by a Canadian author that has gone on to win major literary awards all around the globe.

So, I'd feel more than a little unpatriotic were I to say bad things about this. Luckily I don't have to because it looks rather good. The film opens on American screens May 1st, in Canada May 2nd, and we've got the US theatrical trailer and a quintet of clips for your perusal in the Twitch Player below the break.

wow, the movie industry really needs to use other voice actors for the voice over. I cant stand his voice anymore. Always sounds the same. Or just give him better lines. I really dislike the cheeasy voice over
