Ooh-err! A very fancy "LUST, CAUTION" DVD release from Korea!

by Ard Vijn, February 28, 2008 3:31 AM

"Pimped" might be an unfortunate choice of words to describe the following DVD, but those Koreans sure do know how to pretty up a DVD release.
I'm talking about the uncut, English subtitled Korean Limited Edition of Ang Lee's sultry spy thriller "Lust, Caution".

Now to be quite honest this isn't the most difficult title to get hold of on DVD: there are cut and uncut versions out in the US which are perfectly decent (haha).
But they're not Korean, nor particularly pimped! For starters this set includes cards in different sizes depicting the different onesheets used.

The discs also feature some nice extras including several trailers. Although it's hard to say if these, unsubbed, will match the sole extra which is on the US disc (a pretty nifty 17-minute-long "making of" mini documentary which was short but sweet).

Thanks go to loyal forumer "Tigrbalm" who provided the tip!

Thanks for the yesasia link, I was having a hell of a time trying to find it using their sub-par search system ^^

Yep, I'm certainly looking forward to this one.

A little unexpectedly, it looks as if the distributors of this fine looking set have brought the release date forward a little, which is nice; I preordered this package some weeks back from YesAsia and it had a scheduled shipping date of 7th March '08 at the time.

Mine was apparently posted yesterday (26th February) though so hopefully it should be here in a week or so. Top Banana.

Tigrbalm,

Don't get me started on that bloody search engine. In general you won't hear me say a bad thing about Yesasia, they've always treated me fine as a customer.

But ever since you told me about this edition THREE WEEKS AGO I've been doing daily searches for it. I spotted the title at several other vendors but I knew Yesasia was going to have it, and they are our affiliate. So I thought there was probably a delivery problem of sorts.

Anyway, these other vendors were suddenly mentioning this title as being "in stock", so I started Googling for it to see if this was an exclusive title for them or not.
To my astonishment the first hit Google offered me was a direct link to Yesasia!!!

Just for fun: hit the link in the article, it will take you to this edition as sold by Yesasia.

Now try and copy/paste the product title "Lust, Caution" into the Yesasia search engine and hit enter.
You'll get a search result with many "Lust, Caution" editions (including the American ones, cut and uncut) but not the Korean LE, even though it'll re-appear if you just go a few pages back to the one you had before you started to search...

YESASIA! Fix this! You're losing revenue because of your buggy search engine!
