We are big fans of French animator Michel Ocelot around here. His Kirikou and the Sorceress is a legitimate classic - such a strong film that it was picked up and championed by Studio Ghibli in Japan, a sure sign of quality - and we've been anxiously awaiting English friendly releases of both his Kirikou sequel - Kirikou and the Wild Beasts - and his latest effort, the Arabian Nights inspired fairy tale Azure and Asmar. No word yet on the arrival of Kirikou - if anybody knows anything about that one, I'd love to hear from you - but Azur and Asmar is about to receive a limited theatrical release in the UK via the stellar Soda Pictures which means both that a DVD release can't be far off and that there is also an English language trailer.
