I think people in Hong Kong have just as much of a right to watch a crappy remake as we do.

This is Hong Kong's revenge for Hollywood remaking a bunch of HK films. I predict the next remake to be Twins starring Andy Lau (in his Running from Karma muscle suit) as Arnold and Sammo Hung as Danny DeVito. :p

If Donnie is the star, then damn, it should be good and have some damn good fights in it. Thats the way I see it. And who gives a shit if its a take off on Miami Vice.
I dont care if Donnie makes a dozen remakes of american movies, they would probbly be better than the orig and they would all kick-ass I'm sure.
Hong Kong with a vengeance towards hollywood, me likes it. Mind you, this HK Vice is almost a safe stinker, but at least i'm hoping to see some good ass kicking from Yen.

How could this in any way be like Miami Vice in Hong Kong? But it could be a good, gritty vice cop movie. Kind of repetitive for Donnie, but not without possibilities if he's teamed up with the right co-star.
The movie is made in the U.S.A. with English Lang, and will prob take place in Florida, and I would say in Miami.
Even tho it is made in the U.S. Andrew Lau is the director, Donnie is the star, so I'm guessing that it will turn out to be a good action flick.

Well if the Weinsteins have their hands on it then it may not be a sure thin even if Lau is director and Yen is star...

Most all English Lang Hong Kong movies (or any Asian English Lang movie) in general do not turn out very well at all. Not in quality or in sales.

Ugh, Weinsteins. I don't min if they get ahold of a Donnie film 'after' it's been made, and I've gotten the HK version, but...
I guess I'll have to wait and see if this thing happens before I get my panties bunched about the Weinsteins. :) Donnie's got two films coming up when Painted Skin wraps.
