There are more than a few fans of Japanese animator Yasuomi Umetsu in these parts so it will, no doubt, come as welcome news that his latest effort - Kite Liberator - will be arriving on these shores March 25th. Thanks to the involvement of American money in this one it's releasing here the same week as it is in Japan, which is a welcome change and hopefully a sign of more global day and date releases in the future. Heck, if this works out maybe the message that the best way to stop bootlegging is to provide timely, legal releases might start sinking in with some of the bigger players ... it aint likely, but a guy can dream, right? Anyway, this is the sequel to cult anime Kite and a pair of fresh trailers have arrived to promote the imminent release.

Hells yeah! I've been waiting for the trailer with bated breath. Sex scenes notwithstanding, KITE was one of the most intense anime I've ever seen.
*watches trailer*
...wait, what? How is this a sequel to Kite? It's got spaceships and satellites and demon-looking things. What? I don't get it. I'm anticipating it even more, but still...
...what the hell was that?
whoa... fresh
Demons, panty shot, jpop, schoolgirls. It's just lacking some nerdy clumsy guy and some cute pet to be the most generic looking anime ever.
And i guess this will be filled with hardcore sex scenes like the original. So double whammy for the loli fans.
Thanks Todd for this news. I'm also a bit confused by the sudden shift in direction from wicked, sexploitation, assassin thriller to sci-fi, action, horror. The trailer looks more like it came from "Blood +" than "Kite". I'm not all too thrilled with this project now after watching the trailer. Even Yasuomi Umetsu's character designs seem a bit weaker when compared to his influential work in the past. My favorite Umetsu works are still "Hurricane Polymer" remake and "Megazone Part II".
