Director Ólafur Jóhannesson is one bussy bee and probably the most productive filmmaker Iceland has to offer. He has however mostly done documentaries but in March he will premier his first feature film called The Higher Force. When he was editing that he was also editing his semi doc The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela which found its way in to the Berlin Film Festival this year.
The Higher Force is about a small time crook who rises in the ranks of his gang when he tells them he knows a famous crime lord and is asked to keep tabs on him. The film stars the cream of the crops of Icelandic acting talent along with Sopranos star Michael Imperioli and a couple of others American actors you might have seen in Woody Allen films and a recent Martin Scorsese film.
A new trailer has been posted on Youtube and while I've seen a cut of the film already and liked it very much it has seen some changes which I had the opportunity to see but failed to do so.
Ólafur plans to release the film in theaters here and then also make a short TV series out of the material as well (his director's cut so to speak).
