IFFR 2008: A Trailer For Swedish Vampire Flick LET THE RIGHT ONE COME IN

by Todd Brown, January 16, 2008 4:54 PM

Set in a rundown suburb of Stockholm, LET THE RIGHT ONE COME IN is a very romantic story containing strong violence and elements of horror. It tells the story of Oskar, a bullied boy who finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful and peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.

Based on the best selling novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, Tomas Alfredson's debut feature is the second vampire film to come out of Sweden in recent years. While certainly leaning more to the dramatic end of the spectrum than did the previous Frostbite - which worked the horror-comedy angle - it certainly looks to have retained a bit of an edge and I'm pretty fascinated by the pairing of a young boy with a centuries old vampire who appears to be a young child herself. The film premieres at the upcoming International Film Festival Rotterdam and while a low resolution trailer has turned up on YouTube recently, we've got a much higher quality version here in the Twitch Player. You'll find it embedded below the break.
