First Footage From Clark Gregg's Adaptation of Palahniuk's CHOKE!

by Todd Brown, January 21, 2008 11:58 AM

It's a good time for fans of Chuck Palahniuk, hungry to see more of the Fight Club author's work hit the big screen. Writer / director / actor Clark Gregg's adaptation of Choke is unspooling in front of audiences at Sundance right about now and the Sundance Channel has released an interview clip with Gregg intercut with the first released footage from the film. Gregg's certainly not as stylish as Fincher but the casting feels very, very right to me ... you'll find the clip reel below the break.

It looks ..terrible? (cinematography wise)

Wow, that's a huge blow for me. Who allowed this guy to make this his directional debut?

Having just finished the book, my first thoughts (besides echoing misteresh above) is that the film simply doesn't look grungy enough for the material. This movie is going to suffer immensely due to comparisons to Fincher's work.

But the casting of the three principles is brilliant.
